All versions used a five-speed manual transaxle, and the front suspension, steering, and front brakes were Alfasud-derived, mounted in a body that was not.

The joint venture, precisely

On 9 October 1980, in Tokyo, Alfa Romeo president Ettore Massacesi and Nissan chairman Takashi Ishihara signed the memorandum that created Alfa Romeo Nissan Autoveicoli S.p.A., a 50:50 joint company between Alfa Romeo and Nissan Motor Co.
